Jack and Cal persuade Rose to board another lifeboat. After she boards, Cal tells Jack that the arrangement for another lifeboat is only for himself. As Rose's boat lowers, she realizes that she cannot leave Jack, and jumps back on board the Titanic to reunite with him. Cal takes a pistol and chases them into the flooding first-class dining salon. The Titanic Movie is based on a real-life story of the passengers aboard on the luxurious and biggest ship on her time, believed to be unsinkable, which collides with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, UK to New York, US. The sinking of the RMS Titanic caused the deaths of 1,509 people in one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history from the 2,224 passengers and crew aboard and only 705 are estimated survivors. The RMS Titanic sets it sails on April 14, 1912, four days in the crossing and hit an iceberg at 11:40 pm (ship's time : GMT -3) and gradually filled with water and foundered around 2:20 am. The wreck of the Titanic remains on the seabed, at a depth of 12,415 feet (3,784 m). Since its discovery on 1985, a thousand of artifacts and possession have been recovered and put on display at museums around the world. The disaster was greeted with worldwide shock and outrage at the huge loss of life. Titanic is one of the famous ships in history and her memory is still alive through numerous books, songs, films and etc. and one of it is the TITANIC (1997) by James Cameron.

Strength

The genre of this movie is all about the love story of a third-class and a first-class passenger which started from the beginning of the ship's first voyage and lasted forever and the sinking of the ship. The movie gives the audience the feeling of suspense and thrill because even me, myself, already seen this movie for how many times already but still, there's a great impact on my soul which really proves that this movie is a world blockbuster hit. I really love the effects; the settings; the casting,of course; and most specially the theme song which is 'My Heart Will Go On' by Celine Dion. The song tells that no matter what happens when both of you love each other, nothing can breaks you apart. And this really suits the film perfectly. Another strength of it is the Titanic ship which gives you an idea on how big the ship. Cameron wants the ship to be detailed like the real RMS Titanic so the memory and the history of it will still be preserved. And since Cameron is so fascinated by the shipwrecks, he wanted to convey the emotional message of the tragedy and the heart-breaking love story although the love story is just fictional. I also love the underwater shots which is truly breath-taking. Another strength of the film is the good lesson that you will learn from it. Below are the unforgettable lines that I really, really love so much.

-first-class dinner-
'Jack: Well, yes, ma'am, I do... I mean, I got everything I need right here with me. I got air in my lungs, a few blank sheets of paper. I mean, I love waking up in the morning not knowing what's gonna happen or, who I'm gonna meet, where I'm gonna wind up. Just the other night I was sleeping under a bridge and now here I am on the grandest ship in the world having champagne with you fine people. I figure life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it. You don't know what hand you're gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes at you... to make each day count. '

-Rose on the wooden wall panel-
'Rose: I love you, Jack.
Jack: Don't you do that, don't say your goodbyes. Not yet, do you understand me?
Rose: I'm so cold.
Jack: Listen, Rose. You're gonna get out of here, you're gonna go on and you're gonna make lots of babies, and you're gonna watch them grow. You're gonna die an old... an old lady warm in her bed, not here, not this night. Not like this, do you understand me?
Rose: I can't feel my body.
Jack: Winning that ticket, Rose, was the best thing that ever happened to me... it brought me to you. And I'm thankful for that, Rose. I'm thankful. You must do me this honor. Promise me you'll survive. That you won't give up, no matter what happens, no matter how hopeless. Promise me now, Rose, and never let of that promise.
Rose: I promise.

Titanic Jack Wins Poker Game

Jack: Never let go.
Rose: I'll never let go, Jack. I'll never let go.'

'Rose: (letting go of Jack's hand) I'll never let go, Jack. I promise.
(she kisses his hand and watches him sink, almost falling apart before she finally climbs back into the water to call the lifeboat back)'

'...I'll never let go, Jack. I promise...'
See how Jack, a poor and penniless man, affords to say such inspiring things. He only have hopes and treats life as a gift maybe that's why he really loves his life and we can always see him smile. In life, we just need to have hopes and faith to our creator because we don't know what will happen next if we contradict life. Another is the keeping of promise to each other and even though they are separate physically, but emotionally and mentally, even death can't take them away from each other. Life is challenge that we should fight. No matter how hopeless, no matter how hard, and no matter what happens, we should not give up. Because it's the only way that we lived our life to our fullest by not giving up no matter what, with just hope, faith and trust.
Weakness

The weakness of the film is the discrimination of the lower classes. Cal, being jealous and angry to Jack because of the thought why Rose chooses a third-class from a first-class which has more power than the lower. Another is when the third-class passengers were locked below because of the gates that did exist which barred the passengers from the other passengers. The accepting of bribe of Officer William Murdoch from Cal which shows his lack of integrity and principle and even uses money in the midst of a disaster. The belief that Titanic is ' Unsinkable' with their boastful tone that even God himself can't sink it, said Cal to Ruth. The forced marriage of Rose to Cal just for the sake of society status. And also, Rose's unable to express her true feelings and opinions because she grew up what a lady should be.
Titanic is really indeed a great movie because of the fictional love story mixes up with the chronicle of the April 1912 Titanic sinking and also one of the best love story in the movie industry. Titanic is not a simple movie with common flow of the scenes but an incredible and unique movie with a thrill that touched the hearts of the audience even after how many years. It is a sort of okay for me that Jack died because if he's not, the story will not be a tragic as it is. It will be just a normal movie with both the lovers are alive. But then, James Cameron never failed the expectation of the audience. He did a a great job for giving almost a perfect movie and now that the Titanic 3D already released in theaters, feels like watching it for a first time. The magic is still present and the audience will shed their tears in theaters at the tragic love story for the second time.
